Things to know before doing this pattern:
*Need to know how to tr
*Need to know the difference between working through st and around post
*How to work 2tog
Side note: *You will be working around FPtc created unless otherwise indicate. *When indicated, you will be working around very first or very last post of the row.
*The yarn should overlap at the points
* Your tension should not be too tight but you do have to work closely together in order to
get the dramatic effect for this pattern.
Using first and last posts to connect for row 5 gives a sharper diamond look then working around FPtc.
So work around posts at ends of row 5 and work around FPtc throughout the middle section of the row.
Crocheting is like pattern sequence like you were taught in Kindergarten. Once you learn the pattern sequence, it's fairly easy to follow. Abbreviation: Ch - Chain
Fn Cn- Foundation Chain
Sc - Single Crochet
Tr - Treble Crochet
FPtc - Front Post Treble Crochet
PFtc2tog - Front Post Treble Crochet 2 Together
YO - Yarn Over
Pattern:
Create Foundation Chain using multiples of 4 + 2
To begin with Diamond closed at the bottom.
Row 1:
Using the back loop only,
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across entire foundation ch.
Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Using both loops, sc across Ch 1, turn Row 3: FPtc around 3rd post fn ch, Sc in nxt st of row 3 and in nxt 2 sts (3 total) FPtc2tog (FPtc around same post of fn ch used to create 1st FPtc, skip 3 posts of fn ch, and FPtc around 4th post of fn ch) *Sc in next 3 sts of row 3 FPtc2tog ( FPtc using same post previously used to create FPtc2tog, skip 3 post fn ch, FPtc around 4th post of fn ch), Repeat from * across For last Fptc of row:
FPtc around previous FPtc and YO pull through 2 loops YO pull through 2 loops Insert Hook into last st of row 3,
YO pull through YO pull through all loops on hook to create last st of row. Ch 1, turn Row 4: Using both loops, sc across Ch 1, turn
Row 5: Sc in first 2 sts, FPtc2tog (FPtc working around 1st post of row and working around nxt FPtc2tog of row 3), Sc in nxt 3 sts, *FPtc2tog (FPtc around previous FPtc and around nxt FPtc of row 3), Sc in nxt 3 sts, Repeat from * across to last FPtc2tog Fptc2tog (Working around previous FPtc of row 3 and around last post of row 3) Sc in last 2 sts Ch 1, turn Row 6: Using both loops, sc across Ch 1, turn Row 7: FPtc around FPtc 2 rows below *Sc in nxt 3 sts, FPtc2tog (FPtc around previous FPtc 2 rows below and nxt FPtc 2 rows below, Repeat from * across to last tr of the row For last tr of row
FPtc around previous FPtc and YO pull through 2 loops YO pull through 2 loops Insert hook in to last st,
YO pull through YO pull through all loops on hook to create last st of row. Ch 1, turn Repeat row 4 - 7 for pattern. * The top and bottom points of diamond should be in line with the middle stitch of of the three stitches going across the inside of the diamond. To begin with Diamond open at the bottom. Row 1: Using the back loop only, Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across entire foundation ch. Ch 1, turn. Row 2: Using both loops, sc across Ch 1, turn Row 3: Sc in first 2 sts, FPtc2tog (FPtc around 1st post of fn ch, skip 3 posts of fn ch, and FPtc around 4th post of fn ch) *Sc in next 3 sts of row 3 FPtc2tog ( FPtc using same post previously used to create FPtc2tog, skip 3 posts of fn ch, FPtc around 4th post of fn ch), sc in last 2 sts, Repeat from * across
Row 4: Using both loops, sc across Ch 1, turn
Row 5: FPtc around top of FPtc2tog 2 rows below *Sc in nxt 3 sts of row 5, FPtc2tog (FPtc around previous FPtc 2 rows below and nxt FPtc 2 rows below, Repeat from * across to last tr of the row For last tr of row
FPtc around previous FPtc and YO pull through 2 loops YO pull through 2 loops Insert hook in to last st,
YO pull through YO pull through all loops on hook to create last st of row. Ch 1, turn Repeat rows 2-5 for pattern
